We operate a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business model typically for enterprise customers where we sell subscriptions to our products and services. This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how we collect, use, share and otherwise process information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you (“Personal Data”), and explains your related rights regarding our processing of your Personal Data.

Personal Data does not include information that is publicly available, de-identified, aggregated, or otherwise exempted by applicable data protection laws. Such information is not subject to the terms of this Policy.

1. What Our Privacy Policy Covers

This Privacy Policy (“Policy”) describes how Legal Eyez (“we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes information that identifies, relates to, describes, or can be reasonably linked, directly or indirectly, with you (“Personal Data”).

This Policy applies when Legal Eyez acts as the data controller of your Personal Data, and it governs situations such as:

  • Visiting our website(s) that link to this Policy
  • Using our legal document review services
  • Communicating with us (via email, phone, messaging)
  • Registering for webinars, events, or surveys hosted by Legal Eyez
  • Interacting with us as a client, supplier, or service provider

This Policy does not cover processing performed solely on behalf of clients (i.e., as a processor).

2. How We Collect and Use Your Personal Data

a. Personal Data Provided by You

Sometimes, we may ask you to provide Personal Data voluntarily (e.g., we may ask you to provide your contact details to create an account with us, to subscribe to marketing communications from us, and/or to submit inquiries to us). In some cases, we combine the Personal Data you provide.

The Personal Data we collect directly from you may include identifiers, professional or employment-related information, financial account information, commercial information, visual information, internet activity information, among others.

We may collect:

  • Name, email, phone number
  • Company name and title
  • Information in service requests or uploaded documents

We use this data to:

  • Deliver legal document review services
  • Provide customer support and updates
  • Improve our services

Client Consent:

By submitting or uploading a document for review, you confirm that you have the authority to do so and consent to its processing in accordance with this Policy. If the document contains third-party personal data, you confirm that appropriate consent has been obtained.

b. Personal Data Collected Automatically

We also collect certain information related to your use of our websites, including your IP address, device type, browser type, broad geographic location, and usage patterns. Some of this information may be collected using cookies and similar tracking technology.

This is used for:

  • Site performance and troubleshooting
  • Usage analytics and security

c. Data from Other Sources

We may collect information from public directories and business partners to update contact info or reach prospective clients.

3. Cookie Policy

4. How We Disclose Your Personal Data

Legal Eyez may share your Personal Data with third parties as follows:

  • Legal Eyez Affiliates: To affiliates within the Legal Eyez group, where necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy.
  • Service Providers and Professional Advisors: To third-party service providers, vendors, or professional advisors engaged by Legal Eyez to perform functions on our behalf, authorized to process Personal Data solely as instructed by Legal Eyez.
  • Your Organization: If your organization is a client or prospective client, we may share Personal Data with relevant individuals within that organization.
  • Event Sponsors and Partners: When you participate in Legal Eyez-hosted events, we may share your data with approved sponsors and partners.
  • Advertising: With your consent, we may share data with advertising platforms for targeted advertising. We do not use information from secure portals for advertising.
  • Business Transactions: If Legal Eyez undergoes a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred. Any acquiring party must use your data in accordance with this Policy.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose data to comply with laws, enforce agreements, detect fraud, or protect rights and safety.

5. How We Protect Your Personal Data

We apply administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to prevent unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure. We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the Personal Data and the risks involved.

However, the security of information transmitted through the internet can never be guaranteed. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password or other forms of authentication.

6. International Transfers

Legal Eyez is based in Ontario, Canada. Should cross-border transfers occur, we will implement safeguards compliant with Canadian law.

7. Retention

Personal Data is retained only as long as necessary for our business or legal obligations. Data is securely deleted or anonymized when no longer needed and after the legal review is emailed to the client.

You may:

  • Access or correct your data
  • Withdraw consent
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

9. Exercising Your Rights

Unsubscribe from Marketing Emails

You may opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link or contacting us directly. Opting out does not affect receipt of service-related communications.

Opt-Out of Targeted Advertising

You may opt out via “Cookie Settings” on our website or by using the Global Privacy Control (GPC) setting in your browser.

10. Additional Disclosures

We do not:

  • Collect data from children under 13
  • Sell or share your Personal Data for third-party marketing

11. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be amended or updated from time to time at the discretion of Legal Eyez. Any changes will be posted on our website, and the updated version will clearly indicate the date of revision.

If we make material changes, we will provide notice on this page, by email, or through relevant Legal Eyez platforms prior to those changes becoming effective.
